MATCH - Mediterranean
as the Climate Hotspot

MATCH is a transnational project harnessing the power of arts and culture to engage communities in climate action across the Mediterranean (2025-2027).

MATCH connects artists to community gardens as a response to the climate crisis in five Mediterranean cities: Athens, Nicosia, Marseille, Barcelona and Izmir.

The Mediterranean is a climate hotspot. This is a statement that no one today challenges. It’s a complex issue with political, social and environmental components that do not allow for one single solution.

Alongside other actions that must be undertaken to mitigate the climate crisis, we believe that community engagement and regenerative practices are vital to enable the necessary societal change to address this ‘hot’ issue.

MATCH brings together artists, cultural organisations and community gardens to build awareness and engagement around regenerative, self-sufficient and community-based ways of life. MATCH will support ten artists to develop, co-create and present new artworks to empower community action on climate change, through transnational artistic residencies and exhibitions.

OPEN CALL NOW LIVE

An open call will launch on Friday 4 April for ten artists to participate in a fully-funded international programme of learning, residencies and presentations across October 2025 – May 2027.

The selected artists will also take part in an integrated linked capacity building programme, which offers opportunities for shared learning on cultural and grassroots work that responds proactively to the climate emergency. An ongoing learning process will lead to the design of a policy framework focused on climate change, culture and the arts.

Deadline: 18 May 2025 (23:59 CEST)

How to apply?
