Alessandro Vincentelli

Board member

Alessandro Vincentelli is a curator and writer based in Athens/Aegina and the UK. He curated our recent Imagining Home exhibition, a multi-communal art exhibition presented in the Nicosia Buffer Zone exploring the idea of identity and home.

He is former Curator of Exhibitions and Research at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead where he worked for 16 years. In May 2021, he curated the international Art and Ecology Triennial EKO8, entitled A Letter to the Future, which took place in a former textile factory in the city of Maribor, Slovenia and presented the work of 26 international artists.

As well as developing significant international exhibitions with many artists, he has curated several major group exhibitions with contemporary themes developed around questions of citizenship and civic engagement and addressing subjects such as sea migration and status of refugees, the rise and use of AI, and surveillance systems.

He completed a degree in Social Anthropology and African History at SOAS, London before finishing the Curating Contemporary Art Course at the Royal College of Art, London.
