Elin Yurtdaş

Elin Yurtdaş is an interdisciplinary artist from Cyprus working across textiles, ceramics, sculpture, and installation. Her practice is rooted in a curiosity about materials, their histories, and the stories they can hold. She combines craft-based processes such as sewing, embroidery, weaving, and ceramics with reclaimed and everyday materials, exploring how objects can carry traces of personal experience, place, and memory.

Her earlier work focused on environmental concerns, particularly the impact of fast fashion, plastic pollution, microfibres, and the changing marine environment. More recently, her practice has shifted towards Cypriot cultural heritage, place, memory, identity, and belonging. Textiles remain central to her way of working, with sewing, embroidery, and weaving becoming not only methods of making but also ways of thinking and connecting with ideas.

Through tactile and material-led processes, Yurtdaş creates works that move between sculpture, craft, and installation, bringing together personal experiences, cultural references, and everyday materials.
