Contested Desires artists

Congratulations to the artists selected to take part in Contested Desires - a programme exploring the problematic legacy of European colonialism through artistic production and community exchange.

Thank you to the many exceptional applications from talented visual artists from Chile, Cyprus, Ghana, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, the North of England (UK), Portugal, Spain and Tunisia.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who applied for their passion, creativity and commitment to exploring the complexities of our shared colonial heritage through contemporary art. The selection process was highly competitive, and we were inspired by the depth and breadth of artistic perspectives showcased in the applications.

Over the next two years the artists will explore the themes of the programme through research and practice across  international residencies, exhibitions, and knowledge exchange workshops.
